Medjugorje messages for August 2 and July 25, 2010

On the 25th of each month, Our Lady appears to the Medjugorje visionary Marija to give us her message to the world. Below is the latest official English translation as provided by the Information Center in Medjugorje.

Message of July 25, 2010:

“Dear children! Anew I call you to follow me with joy. I desire to lead all of you to my Son, your Savior. You are not aware that without Him you do not have joy and peace, nor a future or eternal life. Therefore, little children, make good use of this time of joyful prayer and surrender. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

A picture is worth a thousand words. When I think of joy, I think of my son, John, who was adopted 18 months ago. His smile is real, never forced, always emanating from his heart. This, indeed, is the kind of joy Mary wishes for all of us.

Message of August 2, 2010 to Mirnana Soldo

“Dear children! Today I call you, together with me, to begin to build the Kingdom of Heaven in your hearts, that you may forget that what is personal and – led by the example of my Son – think of what is of God. What does He desire of you? Do not permit Satan to open the paths of earthly happiness, the paths without my Son. My children, they are false and last a short while. My Son exists. I offer you eternal happiness and peace and unity with my Son, with God. I offer you the Kingdom of God. Thank you.”

What comes to mind immediately, when I read this message, how many earthly paths the world presents to us as enticements away from a steep, often difficult, but beautiful path to God. As Jesus tells us, the road is wide that leads to destruction, and the gate narrow that leads to eternal life, and few are they that find it. The paths presented to us by the world will be disguised as paths of light and life, but lead to darkness. Lord, give us good discernment. Give us Your eyes to see when we rationalize, make excuses, and ignore the still small voice, which tries to tell us at many different times, and in many ways: “This is not the path I have chosen for you.”
