Medjugorje messages for September 25 & October 2, 2010

On the 2nd of each month, Our Lady appears to the Medjugorje visionary Mirjana, to give us her message to the world. Below is the latest official English translation as provided by the Information Center in Medjugorje.

Message of October 2, 2010:
“Dear children, Today I call you to a humble, my children, humble devotion. Your hearts need to be just. May your crosses be your means in the battle against the sins of the present time. May your weapon be patience and boundless love – a love that knows to wait and which will make you capable of recognizing God’s signs – that your life, by humble love, may show the truth to all those who seek it in the darkness of lies. My children, my apostles, help me to open the paths to my Son. Once again I call you to pray for your shepherds. Alongside them, I will triumph. Thank you.”

This message is so rich, that I hesitate to comment on it. Instead, to help you probe its meaning for you, personally, I have separated Mary’s message into sentences and clauses, so that you might digest and pray with it in smaller, slower parts:

“Dear children, today I call you to a humble, my children, humble devotion.”

“Your hearts need to be just.”

“May your crosses be your means in the battle against the sins of the present time.”

“May your weapon be patience and boundless love –

“a love that knows to wait”

“and which will make you capable of recognizing God’s signs –”

“that your life, by humble love, may show the truth to all those who seek it in the darkness of lies.”

“My children,”

“my apostles,”

“help me to open the paths to my Son.”

Once again I call you to pray for your shepherds.”

“Alongside them, I will triumph.”

“Thank you.”

On the 25th of each month, Our Lady appears to the Medjugorje visionary Marija to give us her message to the world. Below is the latest official English translation as provided by the Information Center in Medjugorje.

Message of September 25, 2010:

“Dear children! Today I am with you and bless you all with my motherly blessing of peace, and I urge you to live your life of faith even more, because you are still weak and are not humble. I urge you, little children, to speak less and to work more on your personal conversion so that your witness may be fruitful. And may your life be unceasing prayer. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

So many of us Christians try to witness to our faith with our words, but Mary is telling us that without a deep faith and a humble heart, our attempts at spreading the Gospel do not bear fruit. May our very lives, as Mary says, be a prayer that never ceases, and may the Lord give us whatever He must to make us humble.

I too felt this message was so rich, so heavy, and just felt like it touched my heart more so than other messages. I was really struck by the line “let your crosses…” As in, let my Son use what is painful and imperfect in you as a weapon against evil. The whole thing is so beautiful and heavy, there’s a lot to meditate on. She really sounds like a sensible, loving mother.

In 2008 I was in Medjugorje on a Pilgrimage with friends from Canada and was present for the Oct. 2 message, and saw Mirjana receive her apparition from Our Holy Mother. At the time, the whole experience of the week was surreal, and I didn’t notice any great leaps of faith. However, I did notice and feel peaceful, safe and comfortable in that special place, even among hoards of strangers.
Since my return to Canada, I have noticed a gradual increase in my devotion to Our Holy Mother and Her Son. I am faithful to the Rosary daily and my prayers to The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These are not a chore, and I find myself saying prayers while going for walks, doing house chores etc., and I find myself having conversations with the Holy family and all the angels and saints, like I do with my earthly friends, as things arise in my life on a daily basis. I know this is due to Our Holy Mother and Her Son, as well as the intersessions of the saints and angels. I was truly blessed with the opportunity to be in such a blessed place as Medjugorje.
